iOS hacker Comex no longer employed at Apple

Missed email response caused loss of 'remote intern' status
On Thursday, Nicholas Allegra, also known as iPhone hacker Comex, reported in a tweet that "as of last week, after about a year, I’m no longer associated with Apple." Allegra is planning on focusing on his studies at Brown university, and does not plan on returning to the iOS jailbreak "scene." His employment contract was not renewed with Apple because he forgot to respond to an offer from the company offering an extension.
Allegra, known for his work on Jailbreakme 2 and Jailbreakme 3, websites able to defeat older versions of the iOS merely by visiting the site, was hired by Apple as a "remote intern," possibly to dissuade him from continuing the work he was doing but perhaps in order to beef up Apple's iOS security. When asked about returning to work on an elusive iOS 6 jailbreak, Allegra noted that his contract with Apple probably prohibited such work for some time after the cessation of employment.
Forbes followed up with Allegra, and he explained that contract extension offers were considered by Apple to be valued, and his lack of response caused the offer to be withdrawn. "I wasn’t too happy about it, but it didn’t seem like I was able to fix it," Allegra said. "So that’s what it is." He did add that the departure was more complicated than just a missed email, and added that "it wasn't a bad ending" and that he enjoyed his time with the company, but refused to comment further.

I would have loved to know what was in that email exchange. But, I wish him all the best at Brown University.
