New Google Chromebook also available with two years free 3G


The second-generation Google Chromebook made by Samsung is also available in a 3G model. The standard 11-inch model available through Google Play is Wi-Fi only and sells for $249. The 3G version is being sold directly by Samsung as well as through Amazonwith the 3G module adding $80 to the asking price at $330.

However, as with previous 3G version Chromebooks, users will have 2 years of free Verizon 3G access capped a 100MB. Otherwise, all other specifications remain the same. Samsung’s latest Exynos 5 processor, a dual-core ARM Cortex A-15 clocked at 1.7GHz continues to power the device, matched with 2GB of RAM.

Onboard storage is limited to 16GB, although the Samsung 11-inch Chromebook incorporates a 3-in-1 SD/SDHC/SDXC card reader. Additional ports include one USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0 port. Wi-Fi 802.11n is included, while battery life is rated at just over 6 hours. Its 11-inch display offers a standard 1366x768 resolution. The weight of the device is just 2.43 pounds.

The new Google Chromebook by Samsung will go on sale this coming Monday.
