Phones that won't be updated will get $100 rebate

Motorola has revealed which of its handsets will not receive an update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and which will be left on their current operating systems. The manufacturer has set up a page to walk owners of Motorola phones through the upgrade process. Owners of those phones that will not be receiving an update will instead be eligible to receive a $100 credit toward the purchase of another Motorola phone.

The Droid 3, Droid X2, Atrix 4G, Atrix 2, Admiral, Cliq 2, Milestone 3, Milestone X2, Electrify, Photon 4G, XPRT, Titanium, and Triumph will not be receiving an upgrade to version 4.1. Owners of those handsets will receive a $100 rebate to be used toward the purchase of an Atrix HD, Razr M, Razr HD, Razr Maxx HD, Electrify 2, or Photon Q.

It will be necessary to trade in one's existing phone in order to get the $100 Verizon Wireless Gift Card that will go toward the purchase of one of the selected models. Handset owners that are on contract will find that their early termination fees still apply should they take advantage of the Motorola offer.
