L9 to retail for $50 on contract
T-Mobile has announced pricing and availability on LG's forthcoming 4G Optimus L9 smartphone. The mid-range L9 will be available with a Value voice and data plan and two-year service contract for $50, with customers paying $15 down and $15 per month with T-Mobile's Equipment Installment Plan. The L9 can also be had for $80 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a two-year service agreement.
The L9 sports a 4.5-inch 960x540 display and a high-density battery, allowing it to keep a thin profile without sacrificing battery life during 4G operation. Inside, it has a dual-core 1GHz processor and runs Android 4.0.4.
Electronista went hands-on with the L9 earlier this month, finding that it wasn't as fast as current Android flagship models, but that it would definitely do for a mid-range handset. It is able to run Google's operating system reasonably fast, without any glaring performance issues.
