Cross-platform technology used in touchscreen
Bringing full Windows 8 compatibility to older gear, Dell has unveiled the 23-inch S2340T display. The new display features 1080p resolution, flexible positioning with an articulated stand, and supports up to 10 points of simultaneous multitouch on an edge-to-edge glass panel.
Dell's S2340T is a 23-inch wide, VIS display with LED backlight. The panel runs at 1920x1080 resolution at 60hz and can be viewed at a 178 degree angle from center. It boasts a 8,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, and can be connected to with DisplayPort or HDMI.
To enable the touchscreen, the display must be connected to a USB 3.0 port, and provides several USB 3.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, a headphone port, and a microphone port. The display relies on Displaylink's multitouch driver for functionality, but this aspect of the display is not currently Macintosh compatible but should be in the future following a driver update.
The S2340T is available for purchase for $700.
