iPhone growth surpasses 58 percent year-over-year
Apple today posted its fiscal fourth quarter financial results, shedding light on yet another record-breaking quarter for iPhone and iPad sales. The company shipped 26.9 million iPhones in Q4, up 58 percent from the year-ago quarter, while iPad shipments increased by 26 percent to 14 million units in the same three-month span.
As expected, Mac sales were sluggish compared to the company's mobile devices. Overall Mac sales were only up by a single percent in the quarter, and the company has yet to give a breakdown on its iMac sales compared to the MacBook lineup, which typically drives growth for the Mac segment.
iPod sales continued to slide in the fiscal fourth quarter, with 5.3 million units shipped. The media players showed a decline of 19 percent compared to the same quarter last year.
iPad and iPhone sales helped the company post yet another record quarter, with $36 billion in revenue and $8.2 billion in net profit.

Now this is the kind of result I'm talking about. I think the lackluster iPad sales are due mostly to rumors concerning the new iPad Mini and the iPad, which were telegraphed by the updated connector on the iPhone 5. The forecast looks great for Apple's Q1.
