LG now shipping its connected, advanced 3D HDTV in Korea for $660 equivalent

The 27-inch LG TM2792 that seemingly compromises on nothing but size is going on sale in Korea this weekend. Announced late in August, the set has many features of much larger and costlier offerings, such as 3D playback and 2D-to-3D upconversion. The 1080p IPS LCD panel sits atop a metal stand and is surrounded by an ultra-thin bezel.

As the 3D system is passive, it uses battery-less and relatively inexpensive glasses. LG ships the set with its so-called magic remote for controlling the many features. The set was Wi-Fi with WiDi and WiFi Direct support, while one USB port supports MHL HDMI for hooking up smartphones and tablets that support the cabled connection for media sharing.

Other cable connections include HDMI, VGA, composite, and component, along with SCART, three USB ports, and an Ethernet input. Two 7W speakers are integrated, and the set ships with one set of 3D glasses and one clip-on.

While the set is now on sale in Korea, priced at 729,000 won (about $664), it's expected to launch in other markets before year's end. Amazon UK is already listing it through third parties, however, with an equivalent price of about $900. [via Akihabara]
