iOS SmartGlass app still unavailable
Microsoft has released an Android version of its SmartGlass app for interacting with the Xbox 360 console. The new app is available as a free download in the Google Play Store. It allows users to control their Xbox 360 consoles with an Android device, as well as to access additional content on games, music, and video content. An iOS version of the app has not yet been released, though Microsoft has assured iOS device owners that a version would be on its way.
The Xbox SmartGlass app allows users to navigate their consoles through the touch interface on their Android devices. Users can enter text using the keyboard on their phone or tablet, browse the Internet, and control video content. It also provides access to a user's Xbox Live profile, including the ability to alter one's avatar, message friends, and track and compare achievements.
The app requires an Xbox membership in order to sign in. It is compatible with most Android 4.0+ smartphones that have a WVGA screen resolution or higher. The app is already available for Windows 8 devices, and iOS and Windows Phone 7.5 versions will arrive in the near future.
