One X gets Google Now, Project Butter

International versions of the HTC One X have now begun receiving an upgrade to version 4.1 of Google's Android operating system. Updates re being pushed out to devices based on their Customer ID in each region, with phones in Taiwan currently receiving the update. Handsets in Europe, reportedly, have not yet begun receiving the update.

The update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean brings a number of user interface improvements, including Project Butter, which boosts the operating system's performance to 60fps. It also contains multiple stability improvements and gives access to Google Now, Google's fledgling voice controlled digital search assistant.

HTC has not yet published a timeline on when certain regions will receive the update, but Android Central reports that owners of models with a CID of htc_044 should begin receiving an over-the-air update today.
