Store photos, staff confirm launch, pricing

Google will be releasing the 32-gigabyte version of its Nexus 7 tablet either today or tomorrow. The 7-inch tablet will be launched despite the cancellation of the press event in New York, caused by Hurricane Sandy, and has been confirmed to take place in both the UK and the US, as well as a price-drop for the 16GB version. The same cannot be said for the expected 10-inch version, which is more likely to be a future release.

The Google Play store currently lists both the 8GB and 16GB versions as not available for sale, a process which commonly takes place before a change in a product catalog. An e-mail notification sign-up box replaces the price.

Electronista called UK retailer PC World to check availability of Nexus tablets. The first representative commented that she found it difficult to find stocks the 16GB version on her system, but confirmed a 32GB version was set for release on the 30th. This was also claimed by a second representative, who expected it to cost £230 ($370). The retailer's own website shows the 16GB Nexus 7 at £170 ($270), not much more than Google's own pricing for the 8GB version. When pressed on a possible 10-inch Nexus tablet launch, the second employee had heard of the device, but claimed to know nothing about a potential launch.

In the US, the 32GB version has apparently appeared on shelves. Droid-Life reports of a photograph taken within an Office Depot store, showing the 16GB priced at $200, and a 32GB version at $250.
