Signal Flare by Lookout reveals lost iPhone's last location

updated 07:46 pm EDT, Tue October 30, 2012

New feature in Lookout iOS app signals just before battery drains

Citing the fact that 30 percent of people who had an iOS device lost or stolen could not recover it via Find My iPhone because of a dead battery, device location and security specialist Lookout has launched the iOS version of Signal Flare. Previously available on Android, the application has already been used by "millions of people," according to the developer.

The Signal Flare feature sends a location to the Lookout server when the battery is about to drain completely. Following signal reception, the user can log into the website and see the last known location of the phone just before the loss of power.

The new feature has been added to the recent iOS update of Lookout. The free application can also remotely establish a two-way call to a lost device from any browser, have the lost device call you at any number you specify, send a loud alarm or voice message to your phone to find your lost device, back up and save contacts, and manage the device remotely over the web.
