Gear4 adds new case designs to iPhone 5 cover range

Gear4 has revealed its range of cases for the iPhone 5. The new range includes a number of cases that are fairly nontraditional in their appearance, such as the edge-protecting Band ($20) that leaves the front and rear accessible while protecting the handset from shock damage. Thin Ice ($20) provides protection with its tough plastic design with a liquid rubber back, while also being the thinnest case for the iPhone 5 that Gear4 has to offer.

The Guardian ($20) maintains the original look of the iPhone 5, and protects it with as little added weight as possible. The aluminum back is matched by a liquid rubber edging, while cut-out portions provide access to the iPhone 5's ports. The IceBox Edge case ($20) seems to bridge between the two design extremes of The Band and The Guardian, by using a rubberized banding around the edge for protection alongside a clear plastic back for added protection.

StarTech Combo Apple Dock Connector combines 30-pin with Micro USB

StarTech has put the Combo Apple Dock Connector and Micro USB Cable on sale. Consisting of a standard USB male connector on one end and a combined Micro USB and 30-pin Apple Dock connector on the other, the dual-purpose cable can be used to recharge handheld devices, and to sync data between mobile devices and a computer. The 2-foot cable is on sale for $19 through StarTech's website.

Monoprice has the same cable (micro USB and 30pin) for about a third of that price.
