Evernote says iOS app update coming soon

updated 07:13 pm EDT, Fri November 2, 2012

New version will focus on speed, new UI features

Popular note taking app Evernote will soon see an update to version 5 for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. The new update will focus on making using the app much faster in every aspect, with note creation, browsing, and organization all possible within one or two taps. The focus on speed led to a redesign of the app's UI that places emphasis on notes, notebooks, tags, and places.

The update also adds a Recent Notes list, much like the one seen in the Evernote 5 for Mac beta. Evernote has also added Quick Note buttons, allowing users to create new notes in a more efficient manner. Additionally, the new version features a map mode allowing users to organize and view notes according to where they were composed.

Evernote explained the new features in a blog post today. The company has not given a date specific for the new version, instead saying only that it is coming soon to the App Store.
