Production system cited for 45 percent price drop
Cinematic camera maker RED has cut the prices on a number of 4K, 4.5K, and 5K Epic cameras, in what appears to be a preemptive strike on the recent camera announcement from Sony. Prices have dropped considerably in some instances, with the Epic-M now being sold for $24,000 instead of its original price of $39,500.

Of the other cameras, the Epic-X has dropped from $34,500 to $19,000, the Scarlet drops almost $2,000 to just under $8000, and the "Battle Tested" RED ONE M-X will go for $4000, though the last listing is now considered End of Life. Existing customers that bought a Scarlet or EPIC brain on or after October 1st will receive a discount of $1000 or $4000 towards their next accessory purchase.
