Ex-Gamestop public affairs head pleads guilty to mail fraud

Olivera embezzled $2 million in funds over two years
Former Gamestop Vice President of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Chris Olivera has pled guilty to one count of Mail fraud. Olivera was accused of embezzling $2 million dollars from the game retailer. He faces a maximum of 20 years in prison, and a $250,000 fine, in addition to compensating Gamestop for the money he stole.
According to the federal indictment, Olivera sent regular payments from Gamestop to Cloud Communications, LLC. The company, and it's bogus representative, one Jennifer Miller, existed only on the paperwork Olivera filed with the Nevada secretary of state for incorporation of the business.
The scheme went on between July 2009 and April 2011 when Gamestop suspected Olivera was cashing the checks made out to Cloud Communications. Following a federal investigation, Olivera was in fact found to be defrauding the company.
