Customize experience and unit capabilities with downloadable apps

Asustor today launched four models of the new AS 6 Series, the first network attached storage device (NAS) which features System Sleep Mode (S3). The new app-based NAS combines performance features with low power consumption. The Intel-based technology also makes it possible for the devices to sport HDMI outputs which allows for the playing of HD video and multimedia directly to HDMI-ready displays.

The entire series comes preloaded with Asustor Data Master (ADM), an operating system for storage devices that provides users with a intuitive web-based user interface. Additionally, the 6 Series also provides added functionality like an iTunes DAAP server, Bittorrent, a uPnP Media Server, and Boxee support through Asustor's App Central.

All models of the new series come equipped with USB 2.0, USB 3.0, and eSATA ports to expand the capacity of the unit with external drives. Network protocols supported include CIFS/SMB, AFP, NFS, FTP, WebDAV, Rsync, SSH, SFTP, iSCSI, HTTP, and HTTPS.

The two-bay AS-602T retails for $500. Four bays in the AS-604T are available for $700. The AS-606T has six bays and costs $900. Eight bays can be purchased in the AS-608T for $1050. No hard drives are included.
