15.6-inch GX60 starts at $1,300, brings Windows 8, quad-core AMD CPU

MSI has shown off its latest gaming notebook, the Windows 8-powered, 15.6-inch GX60. It gets an AMD quad-core A10-series processor rated at 2.3GHz but that can operate at up to 3.2GHz and paired with AMD's Radeon HD 7970M GPU with 2GB of dedicated RAM. The 8GB of RAM can be upgraded to 16GB.

The anti-glare screen has 1080p resolution for outputting content from the built-in Blu-ray drive as it was meant to. Connecting to wireless networks for online gaming is handled by the Killer E2200 Wi-Fi radio, while Bluetooth 4.0 is also onboard. A Steel Series keyboard with fast response and simultaneous keystroke support should satisfy gamers while handling their abuse. AMD's Eyefinity Technology lets users run multiple but independent displays at the same time.

For storage, the GX60 offers a 750GB, 7200RPM SATA hard drive, though other variations are optional, including a 128GB Super RAID SSD drive along with a 500GB or 750GB hard drive.

The GX60 otherwise offers a nine-cell battery, gold-coated audio jacks MSI calls Audio Boost, and more.

The notebook weighs 7.7lbs and is now shipping, with prices starting at $1,300.
