Rumor: Galaxy S IV to have 5-inch 1080p display

S IV could match Droid DNA for screen resolution

Samsung's top-selling Galaxy S line could receive a screen real estate boost in its next iteration, according to new rumors. While the South Korean conglomerate has continually declined to comment on any forthcoming devices, today brings word that the next entry in the Galaxy S series could feature a 5-inch 1920x1080 resolution display. Further, Samsung is said to be preparing to reveal the device at next year's Consumer Electronics Show in January.

BGR carried the rumor earlier today, claiming that the Galaxy S line will join handsets such as HTC's Droid DNA in moving to a 5-inch full HD display. Reportedly, the Galaxy S IV will top even the Droid DNA's screen with a pixel density of 441ppi.

Rumors about the Galaxy S IV began popping up around the release of Apple's iPhone 5, and Samsung has either denied or refused to comment on them.

The newest rumor would seem to go hand in hand with previous reports that Samsung was planning something sizable for next year's CES. Earlier this month, rumors emerged that CES 2013 would see a massive rebranding effort on the part of the electronics giant, one that would replace its familiar blue oval with more iconic brand suitable to take on Apple on a global stage.
