New ivySkin iPhone 5 cases start at $20
Accessory maker IvySkin USA rolled out five new case designs today, each designed to fit Apple's new iPhone 5 and aimed at holiday shoppers. The new case and protector lineup is drawn from IvySkin's most popular collections, including Wrangler, SmartCase, Reception Case, TurtleBack, and XyloGlass. The cases range in price and functionality, starting at $20
The XyloGlass screen guard is precision pre-cut to fit the iPhone 5, offering military grade body protection for the back of the iPhone 5 as well as the front. It features a special, chemically-tempered glass with a hardness rating exceeding that of steel, as well as a smudge-resistant coating. It also ships with a premium reusable microfiber cloth for cleaning. It retails for $30.
The TurtleBack case features a sculpted, ambidextrous convex shape, making it easier to hold. Its side grips are designed to complement a built-in palm support, making the handset easier to hold, and it is equipped with a strong exterior that guards against impact. In addition to its buttons and ports that provide full access to the iPhone 5's controls, it features a raised bezel, keeping the glass front of the iPhone 5 safe from impact. The TurtleBack case is available for $25, and it is expected to ship on November 21.
The SmartCase turns the iPhone 5 into a miniature entertainment system. It has an ultras-slim polycarbonate shell with a virtual speaker box built in, redirecting sound from the bottom to the front of the device. It also has a built-in Touch-Thru screen guard case and an anti-glare camera ring. Inside, it also features a 2200mAh smart battery pack to keep the iPhone 5 charged on the go. The SmartCase will ship on December 12. Customers can order it for $90, but orders placed with IvySkin before January of 2013 will see the battery shipping separately from the case.
The Reception Case provides a thin-profile polycarbonate case measuring 0.6mm thick. It features a full front screen guard and an anti-scratch coating. The case is transparent, allowing for the aesthetics of the iPhone 5 to remain uncovered. It will ship on November 21, and it is available for $20.
The Wrangler Case features a muscular body meant to protect the iPhone 5. Composed of shatter-resistant polycarbonate and shock-absorbing polysilicon, the Wrangler is designed to protect against dirt, sand, wind, rain, shock, and vibration. It has a built-in tempered glass screen protector, and its hinged plugs seal all ports and controls from the elements. The Wrangler retails for $50, and is available to order now. It is expected to ship December 12.
