Apple seeds first beta of OS X 10.8.3

updated 03:07 pm EST, Mon November 26, 2012

Graphics, AirPort, AirPlay main elements of focus

Apple has begun seeding the first beta of OS X 10.8.3 to developers. Listed as build 12D32, the code is said to have a few known issues, such preferences appearing off-kilter in Software Update, especially with non-English language settings. After waking from sleep, meanwhile, a Mac may render background graphics as black or transparent.

Perhaps correspondingly, graphics are one of the areas developers are being asked to concentrate testing. Also in the spotlight are AirPort, AirPlay, and Game Center. Another known issue though is trouble with switching between apps using Command-Tab. The beta also lacks Safari 6.0.2, and so developers are asked to update to that browser before installing v10.8.3.

As the software is only in an early and rough state, it's uncertain when v10.8.3 might be pushed to the public. Apple could be hoping to have it ready in time for the launch of the new iMac, but that may be as late as 2013.

it would be nice if it solves the problem that some Late '08 MBPs have trying to (even clean-)install Mountain Lion... :confused:http://forums.macnn.com/forums/posts/add/threadId/495132#
