Globalgig offers hotspot-powered roaming in three countries, more due

Global roaming communications provider Voiamo is now offering a consumer alternative with its just-launched Globalgig service. It requires the purchase of a Globalgig-branded hotspot and offers either 1GB of data for $25 per month, 3GB for $39, and 5GB for $49 per month. Thus far, the service will work only in the US, UK, and Australia through Sprint, O2, and Optus providers as partners, respectively.

Globalgig promises it will expand to cover other countries, including "key Asian, European Union markets, and other large global travel hubs" over the course of the next year. The contracts will be sold on a monthly basis, with just 48 hours of notice before the end of their billing cycle needed to cancel.

The hotspot is priced at $119 and can connect with up to five Wi-Fi devices at the same time. Its range is up to 130 feet when outdoors.
