Apple Remote Desktop updated to 3.6.2, fixes screen-share

Resolves issue with screen-sharing graphics in iChat, Messages

Apple has updated the client and admin components of its Apple Remote Desktop (ARD) to version 3.6.2 in order to address an issue where users may only see white video when screen sharing from Messages or iChat to a system running OS X Lion. The current client version of ARD, which for most users is included in their version of OS X, can be updated through Software Update on Lion or Mountain Lion (website and Mac App Store not yet updated).

Those users who have purchased the full ARD admin application will see the upgrade when it becomes available in the Mac App Store. Admins will be able to deploy the client upgrades using the "Upgrade Client" feature built into v3.6.1 or later rather than having to download each client machine's update individually. In addition to the graphics fix for iChat and Messages, Apple says the update includes the usual "overall stability and reliability" type improvements. For those not using ARD at all under Mountain Lion, the client update is optional; its improvements will automatically be included in the next system update.

Version 3.6.2 comes a little over two months since the last update, which fixed a bug that stopped the menu extra from loading correctly in OS X Lion. The full version of ARD is available exclusively from the Mac App Store and costs $80. It allows users to administrate, screen-share and remotely manage client Macs on a local network or over the Internet. The 3.6.2 update is recommended for all ARD users.
