Student notebook houses Ivy Bridge processor, Windows 8

Acer has released the latest addition to its TravelMate line of notebooks. The TravelMate B113 is aimed at students and institutional customers, and sports a Core i3 Ivy Bridge processor with 4GB of RAM, a 1366x768-resolution 11.6-inch LED-backlit display, and a choice of either Windows 7 or Windows 8 Pro pre-installed.

Storage is provided by a SATA hard disk, with capacities of up to 500GB on offer, and options to create an encrypted Personal Secure Drive. The included Acer Office Manager, Acer Backup and Acer eRecovery Manager suite gives more control to an office's IT managers to secure and maintain the notebook, while the ProShield Manager adds various security tools for the user as well. Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and an integrated webcam and mic round off the specifications list.

Weighing three pounds and measuring an inch thick, the TravelMate B113 is on sale in the US and Canada, starting from $400.
