Messenger app drops account requirement

Facebook announced today that it had altered its Facebook Messenger app to allow users to create Messenger accounts with only a name and a phone number. The alteration brings Facebook Messenger into the company of other SMS-replacement apps such as WhatsApp and Handcent, as users can now message contacts with just a phone number, as well as share photos with them. The social network rolled out the update to its Messenger app for Android today, and will be rolling out Messenger accounts over the next few weeks.

Vizibility offers Passbook-compatible business cards

Vizibility has announced new mobile business card features that are compatible with the Passbook feature built into Apple's iOS platform. Vizibility partnered with RE/MAX Regional Services to offer mobile business cards to its 4,500 real estate brokers and agents across Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Southern Ohio, and Southeastern Michigan. The company is also rolling out CardSense, which enables Passbook users to select locations where their Mobile Business Card Pass can be instantly accessed; CardFollow, which allows people to receive updates whenever a vCard changes, and the Mobile Directory, which displays a searchable directory of mobile business cards for everyone in an organization. Zensorium introduces cardiorespiratory monitoring device

Zensorium today announced the availability of Tinké, a device used to monitor cardiorespiratory health and stress levels. Tinké plugs into an iOS device via the 30-pin connector, allowing users to monitor cardiorespiratory functioning. It uses optical sensing technologies to capture blood volume changes in a user's fingertips. It also generates two indexes: a Vita index that pulls together heart rate, blood oxygen level, and respiratory data for a personalized cardiorespiratory score, and a Zen index that uses heart rate variability as a basis to generate a personalized stress score. Tinké is available from Zensorium's store for $119.
