Broad patent could potentially affect numerous products
Apple has filed for a trademark on the leaf in its logo, The Register says. The submission was made to the European Trademark Registry on December 3rd, using lawyers from a London firm called Edwards Wildman. If granted, the trademark would cover 10 different categories of products, ranging from things like computers and educational products to jewellery and shoes.
Apple has come under fire in recent years for attempting to patent or trademark seemingly common design traits. One of the most cited examples is the rounded rectangular shape of the iPad, for which Apple was in fact granted US patent rights in November. Critics have charged that the design feature is extremely generic, and that it's difficult to design a tablet that doesn't at least echo Apple patents.

SO...... Apple is being sued by all sorts of patent trolls that have the very same type of patents. And yet they are winning with stupid general patents over things like transmitting data over a wireless connection..... ???? WHAT. Yet people complain that Apple is trying to patent things in a preventative manner.
Please do some research before the next article.... Or is this just trolling for hits????
Just look at the typical smart phone before the iPhone... Now look. Gee see how they all look the same.. and where is that physical keypad that everyone said you must have....
Just a thought.
