Close-up shots of RIM handset shows design, ports

More images showing one of Research In Motion's new smartphones have appeared online. The new images of the BlackBerry 10 L-Series device gives a close-up view of the handset, and joins previous other phone-related leaks that have surfaced ahead of the company's new operating system launch, set for January 30th next year.

Taken by Vietnamese blog Tinh Te, the handset appears to have rounded corners and a general look not too dissimilar to the Blackberry 10 "London" smartphone seen in September. The same removable 1800mAh battery makes an appearance, as does a microSD card and a fairly industrial design aesthetic. A Micro USB and a HDMI port line the left-hand side, a headphone jack rests next to a power button at the top, and both the front-facing and rear-facing cameras are also clearly visible on the soon-to-be released device.

RIM has been tempting developers and corporate customers to move over to BlackBerry 10 on-release, by offering prototype devices to app creators, and free trade-ups and exchanges to governments and business clients.
