PrimeSense boasts Capri 3D sensor as 'world's smallest'

Device manufacturers to test smaller 3D sensor mid-2013
PrimeSense, a company that works on motion-sensing technology and helped Microsoft bring the Xbox 360's Kinect to market, is set to reveal a new embedded 3D sensor. The Capri 1.25 will be shown off at CES in January, and is said by the company to have a small form factor and relatively low cost compared to other 3D-sensing devices.
At a tenth of the size of PrimeSense's current 3D sensors, the Capri is claimed to be the smallest in the world, making it capable of being embedded in small devices such as smartphones, as well as larger devices like notebooks and TVs. The new design uses a new System on Chip for depth acquisition, with improved algorithms including multi-modal 3D sensing techniques.
The Capri 1.25 sensor is unlikely to appear in devices on the market in the near future, but PrimeSense will be providing OEMs with development samples by mid-2013.
