Kindle products are top sellers on Amazon

Amazon released information on its sales during the holiday period on Thursday, noting that the e-retailer had claimed the top spot in customer satisfaction for holiday shopping. Amazon also noted that its Kindle products -- particularly the Kindle Fire HD devices -- were the best selling products on the site once again, though the retailer declined again to provide specific sales figures. Amazon's other Kindle products -- the Kindle and Kindle Paperwhite -- were among the retailer's top selling devices as well.

Amazon's release documenting holiday sales pegs Cyber Monday 2012 as the "biggest day ever for Kindle sales worldwide." The peak day for Amazon's worldwide fulfillment network saw the retailer shipping more than 15.6 million units across all product categories. The busiest day for the site, November 26, saw customers ordering more than 26.5 million items worldwide, or 306 items per second.

Amazon also noted its continually expanding content library. The Kindle Owners' Lending Library grew from 75,000 books to more than 250,000 books over the course of 2012. Amazon's digital media selection grew to more than 23 million movies, television shows, songs, magazines, books, audiobooks, and apps, up from 19 million in 2011, and the Prime Instant Video selection grew from 12,000 to more than 33,000 movies and TV episodes.
