Evolution Kit to provide hardware, software upgrade for HDTVs

Samsung is set to reveal a way for owners of televisions in its 2012 range to add features from its upcoming 2013 HDTV catalog. The Evolution Kit, to be fully unveiled at CES next week, will make changes to the way existing smart televisions will work, not only in terms of software, but also by adding more hardware to the TV set.

Designed to fit into a slot on the back of the TVs, the Evolution Kit will add the refreshed 2013 Smart Hub, complete with its five panels and flipping navigational style. The included processor, memory, and GPU will allow for improved application performance and better multitasking, and is also said to have improvements to existing voice and motion control systems.

Pricing and availability are currently unknown, and will likely be provided at the Samsung CES press conference on Monday, alongside a new design of "TV shape."
