US, European retailers to stock dock at $40 cost
The dock for the Google Nexus 7 is going on sale later this month in both Europe and the United States, according to reports. Originally leaked during the summer alongside a travel cover, the Asus Dock for Nexus 7 is said to be priced at $40 in the US and 30 euros ($40) in Europe, and is open for pre-orders through various online retailers.
B&H Photo in the US opened for pre-orders in December, and has now updated the listing with an expected availability date of January 10th. In Europe, Android World claims to have heard from Asus Benelux that it will be in stores from mid-January, but were not forthcoming on the eventual date.
The dock, using pins on the side of the tablet, offers buyers a microUSB socket and a heaphone jack on the back, to provide power and audio connectivity, but it isn't clear if it will allow for microUSB-based data transfer between the tablet and a computer.
Though all eyes are on the Nexus 7's dock, another dock made an appearance in a recent Android holiday video. The dock accepted the Nexus 10's extra size, and seemed extremely small in comparison to the soon-to-be released version. Despite the short appearance, there has been no official word about this second dock.
