Metal body to help Nokia compete with iPhone
Nokia is allegedly planning a line of Lumia Windows Phone handsets for 2013, with at least one device having a metallic body. A rumor suggests that at least one of the new handsets will eschew the polycarbonate in favor of aluminum, with a handset codenamed Catwalk to be both lighter and thinner than the handset it will succeed: the Lumia 920.
Catwalk will apparently have a similar specification to the Lumia 920, according to The Verge, and that the move to aluminum would allow Nokia to compete against other handsets, such as the Apple iPhone, in terms of size and weight. The sources also claim that there will be another two Lumia Handsets prepared, as well as project Catwalk, though no details were offered in terms of specifications or when they would be revealed.
Nokia has previously been rumored to unveil a 10-inch Windows RT-based tablet in early 2013. While the rumor dates back to design patents revealed in 2011, it was believed that Nokia avoided announcing their tablet in early 2012 so the company could watch the release of the Microsoft Surface and the entire Windows 8 and Windows RT ecosystem as a whole before releasing their own efforts.
