Integrated Wi-Fi repeaters extend range of camera coverage
D-Link has updated its Cloud Camera range with two new wireless network imaging devices. The Cloud Camera 1050 and Cloud Camera 1150 add a number of new features to the wireless surveillance system, including a three-step Wi-Fi Protected Setup scheme, and audio-detection with image alerts based on sounds heard by the cameras.
As well as simplifying the network-connection process with WPS, both cameras also act as wireless repeaters, expanding the range of the system, while the use of 640x480 H.264 video minimizes the amount of bandwidth used. Users can use a free application to view a live video stream from a PC, notebook or mobile device, with automatic mydlink account connection when using the Cloud Cameras with one of the Cloud Router range. The 1150 version also has infrared illumination for night-time viewing, giving a 16-foot range in dark environments.
The Cloud Camera 1050 and the Cloud Camera 1150 will go on sale in February, for $80 and $100 respectively.
