Toshiba jumps into UltraHD TV market, L9300s due this summer

Toshiba kicked off the CES unveilings early by taking the drapes off its latest and greatest TV, the L9300-series. The flagship offering will be an 84-inch set, with all models in the range offering UltraHD resolution, or a massive 3840x2160 pixels. There will also be 58- and 65-inch versions of the set, with all sharing the same 240Hz refresh rates and CEVO 4K Quad+Dual Core Processor.

That CPU will let the TVs upscale 1080p content to 4K resolution, which is important since there isn't much native 4K video available at this time.

Prices haven't yet been revealed, though all are said to arrive in stores this summer. Considering Sony is asking around $25,000 for its 84-inch, , we can't imagine Toshiba's TV won't be similarly priced.

Also on display was the
previously seen 14.4-inch, 21:9 Windows 8 ultrabook, 17.3-inch Qosmio X875 gaming notebook, and others. The pricing for the former will start at $800 in March, while the latter will cost from $1,480 when it arrives in February.

A slew of new connected (CloudTV-branded) Blu-ray players was also unveiled, with some getting 3D and 4K upconversion capabilities.
