Vizio to launch revised M-Series, new UHD HDTVs this year

New 4K-capable TVs have 240Hz refresh rate, Theater 3D

Vizio has shown off its lineup of HDTVs for 2013, including a number of large UHD televisions. The new premium-level XVT series, the company's first Ultra High Definition TVs, were shown alongside an enhanced line of M-Series Razor LED Smart TVs, complete with Video On Demand apps and social features.

Framed in a sleek, industrial design with a thin bezel, the XVT Series consists of three large screen sizes, measuring at 55, 65, and 70-inches. The Ultra HDTVs will be able to show 4K and 2K-resolution video, and will also use Vizio's Theater 3D technology to show 3D video at an effective refresh rate of 240Hz.

Matching the thin-bezel design and edge-to-edge glass of the XVT series, the M-Series consists of nine different screen sizes, ranging from 32-inches up to 70 and 80-inches diagonally. The Smart TVs offer Vizio Internet Apps, allowing users access to Video On Demand services such as Amazon Instant Video, Netflix, and HuluPlus; as well as social services like Facebook and YouTube. New for this year, the M-Series models will include Wi-Fi Direct universal remote controls with backlit keys, which is said to ease the initial set-up process. Theater 3D also makes an appearance at the bigger-end of the range, with 50-inch and larger models also gaining a 240Hz refresh rate.

Prices for the M-Series start from $400 for the 32-inch model, rising to $4,500 for the 80-inch model with Theater 3D, and will be available later this year. Details on the cost of the XVT range will be revealed close to when the UHD TVs go on sale, which will be later this year.
