FirmTek rolls out MiniSwap U3 USB 3.0 drive enclosure

Enclosure provides up to 440MB per second
FirmTek, a storage solutions provider for Apple Macintosh and PC systems, today announced the MiniSwap U3. Claiming it to be an "industry first" and ideal for 2.5-inch solid state (SSD) and hard disk drives (HDD), the miniSwap/U3 enclosure provides trayless, hot-swap, USB 3.0 external enclosure support for Mac and PC computers.
The MiniSwap provides 2.5-inch storage enclosures with 5Gbps bandwidth, simple disk mounting and quiet operation. The small device can be integrated as a portable on-the-go 2.5-inch enclosure, or as a trayless 2.5-inch desktop drive mounting station. Multiple MiniSwap U3 enclosures can be connected to provide advanced RAID performance. The unit's trayless bay design supports standard 2.5-inch Serial ATA SSD or platter hard drives no taller than 14.9mm.
The FirmTek MiniSwap U3 will be available soon from authorized resellers. Specially priced build-to-order MiniSwap U3 bundles with custom pre-installed SATA hard disks or SSD configurations will also be available at the FirmTek Store. Pricing has not been announced.
