Procision GC-PX100 capable of recording 600fps footage

JVC has unveiled a number of camcorders at CES, a number of which features Wi-Fi connectivity. The premium Procision GC-PX100 is said to be designed for fast-moving action filming, while the eight-model Everio line includes entry-level and mid-range camcorders using a new 2.5-megapixel back-illuminated CMOS image sensor.

The high-end Procision GC-PX100 shoots Full HD 1920x1080p video at 60fps and a bitrate of 36Mbps, which is claimed to be ideal for motion analysis and special effects. Using a 12.8-megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor with optical image stabilization, it is capable of recording high-speed video between 120fps and 600 fps, and is also able to take bursts of nine stills from the video while recording. The free JVC CAM Coach app for iOS and Android can be used by sports teams to wirelessly view footage from the camera and make annotations, similar to how commentators use a telestrator.

The Everio line starts with the GZ-E100, which can also record Full HD video at 60fps, and has a 40x optical zoom and 200x digital zoom. Further up the range, the camcorders gain the ability to take still images, film slow-motion video, Wi-fi connectivity and the ability to use mobile apps, and a new 29.3mm wide-angle lens. The highest in the Everio range, the GZ-VX815, also has a 12.8-megapixel sensor.

The Procision GC-PX100 will be out in March for $1,000, while the Everio line will be released gradually over the end of January and into February, starting from $230 and rising to $500.
