Video recommendations offered to eight app users

Cox Communications has shown off a new version of its mobile app, which it hopes will give a more personalized TV experience to customers. Jointly developed with Cisco, the new mobile application will offer access to 90 live TV channels, on demand content, personalized video recommendations, and will also function as a remote control for the Cox TV program guide, Trio.

The as-yet-unnamed app will use Trio to offer personal recommendations based on movies and TV shows the user has previously watched, with users tweaking the results by opting to 'Like,' 'Dislike,' or 'Suspend' recommendations received. A total of eight users can be registered in the app, which also has more additional time slots in TV listings, and can pause live programming for any TV in the home DVR network.

A release date for the app has yet to be revealed, but it will debut on the iPad before other mobile devices have their own versions.
