Wireless peripheral maker makes first foray into television

Rapoo, a manufacturer of wireless computing peripherals, announced the Rapoo TV at the Consumer Electronics Show today. The self-titled device is a receiver and remote solution intended to make any HDTV "smart." Rapoo TV connects any WiFi-enabled iOS or Android device to an HDTV, allowing users to search the Internet, download apps and view web or smartphone content mirrored from the device to the television.

Rapoo TV can mirror the content from the connected iOS or Android devices onto the HDTV, and convert the device into the TV’s remote control. Additionally, users can connect a wireless mouse and keyboard to Rapoo TV to easily search the web and use the HDTV as a large desktop.

The device will be available at retail in black or white in the first quarter of 2013. No pricing has been given.
