BenQ delivers high-performance DLP 3D projectors competitively priced

BenQ has rolled out two new 1080p 3D projectors, the W1070 and the W1080ST. The headlining feature may be the prices, rather than the outright specifications. The W1070 uses a high-end DLP Dark Chip 3 and comes in at $1099, while the W1080ST is a short-throw type allowing it to project large images in confined spaces for $1299.

Both projectors support 3D capability from Blu-ray players, gaming consoles, certain 3D cable boxes along with PCs. Each also supports Nvidia 3DTV Play, DLP Link and dual HDMI input, delivered with a 10,000:1 contrast ratio. Also included are built-in 2-Watt stereo speakers.

Further, the W1080ST projects a 100-inch wide image from as little as six-feet away. It also includes a Rec 709 color gamut, permitting color calibration out of the box that BenQ says will result in color images that match film studio and broadcast TV standards. Both projectors are also certfied by the Imaging Science Foundation and include two optimized modes – ISF Day and ISF Night.

The BenQ W1070 and the W1080ST are both shipping now.
