MySpace opens redesigned music service to new users

Relaunch puts investor Justin Timberlake on front page
Social network MySpace has revealed another redesigned version of its site, with the main frontpage of the site devoted to prominent investor Justin Timberlake. The new design of the social network became available to normal users earlier this week, after an internal beta test from July onwards that later opened up to others through invitations.
Users can access the site using previously-created MySpace login details or via existing Twitter or Facebook accounts, according to The Verge. Like the previous redesign, the new MySpace has a focus on music, with sections devoted to discovering artists and tracks, as well as connecting with individual artists. The new MySpace does appear to be less of a social network and more like a music service, which brings it closer to the "Hulu of Music" claim it was pitched as in the October 2011 growth strategy outlined by Specific Media. This puts MySpace in the same category as Spotify in offering streaming music to its users, though it appears not to be offering ad-supported streams nor any form of subscription model at present.
Despite the change to an updated design, users can still switch back to the old MySpace layout. It is not clear when this will be halted and an enforced migration to the new site will occur.
