Chinese company JK Imaging reveals its first Kodak-branded camera

Chinese company JK Imaging has released its first camera
with Kodak branding. JK Imaging was able to capitalize on Kodak's financial woes to formally licence the Kodak brand for use on its own products, making them nothing more than Kodak in name only. It has called the first of its new cameras the Kodak S1, which is mirrorless Micro Four Thirds type.

Little is known about the details of the camera at the time of writing. It is expected to carry Wi-Fi connectivity, and will incorporate a Sony-sourced CMOS sensor, which go some way to ensuring decent photo quality. JK Imaging also appear to be pitching its Wi-Fi connectivity as a selling point for the smartphone generation as it will allow instant transfer for sharing.

The Micro Four Thirds segment has continued to slowly gain popularity for the compact nature of the devices. They promise DSLR-like shooting capabilities and and interchangeable lenses, yet are much easier to handle than full DSLR types and also more consumer friendly. The new Kodak S1 MFT is expected to debut in Q3 2013.
