First quad-core Android phablet for Micromax

Micromax has unveiled its Android Jelly Bean-powered A116 Canvas HD smartphone for India and other surrounding emerging markets. The Canvas HD is Micromax's first phablet to use a quad-core processor, the MediaTek MT6589 running at 1.2GHz, supported by 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage, with an option to expand its capacity via a 32GB MicroSD card.

The smartphone has a five-inch, 1280x720 resolution IPS display, a removable 2100mAh battery, and GPS capabilities, according to FoneArena. Connectivity options include 3G network access, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and an audio jack. The 8-megapixel camera on the rear has an LED flash, 4x zoom, and a night mode, and is paired with a VGA camera on the front.

Going on sale in the beginning of February, the A116 Canvas HD will cost Rs. 15,000 ($280), and is unlikely to make its way to the United States in the near future, if at all.
