Nokia set to bring full PureView experience with 'EOS' handset

Nokia is said to be working on a true PureView Windows Phone 8 handset that it plans to bring to market this, reports The Verge. Unlike the Lumia 920, which uses some degree of ‘PureView’ technology, the new handset would incorporate a super high-resolution sensor similar to the 41-megapixel 808 PureView. Sources familiar with the device say that is going by the ‘EOS’ codename internally.

The Symbian-powered Nokia 808 PureView made a splash when it debuted with in early 2012 for nothing more than the incredible camera that Nokia packed into the device. The handset itself was nothing to write home about with our hands-on at the time revealing the OS to be buggy and crashprone. However, no before or since, has attempted to pack that many megapixels into a mobile device.

Banking on this, Nokia applied the PureView name to the camera on its current Windows Phone 8 flagship, the Lumia 920. However, it was famously caught out faking the video footage in a commercial, which it originally claimed was shot using the Lumia 920 itself. Since then, calls from Nokia fans to bring the true PureView experience have been getting louder, and it appears that Nokia is set to make some of its fans very happy sometime later this year.
