Fujifilm intros S4800 and S6800 series, up to 30x zoom

Fujifilm S4800 and S6800 offer up to 30x zoom in bridge form factor


Fujifilm has introduced two new series comprising of six new models. The new S4800 and S6800 series bridge cameras both include models that can produce a zoom of up to 30x from their Fujinon lenses. The entry level S4800 series models are also capable of shooting video in 720p, while the S6800 series can shoot video in 1080i and support ISO up to 12800 for better low light shots.

The S4800 series includes the S4600 (26x), the S4700 (28x) and the S4800 (30x). Fujifilm has included OIS sensor shift tech to help reduce blurring, while they also offer a Super Macro mode allowing still shots to be taken from distances as small as 2cm. All models also incorporate a 16-megapixel CMOS sensor with autofocus times of 0.3 seconds and a start up time of 1.3 seconds. A 3-inch LCD is fitted to the rear, while each model will come in a choice of black, white or red.

The S6800 series includes the S6600 (26x), S6700 (28x) and the S6800 (30x). As with the S4800 series, Fujifilm has included an OIS sensor to reduce blurring, boosted by support for ISO at up to 12800. Each can autofocus in 0.3 seconds and start up in 1 second with a 0.5 second interval between shots. A 16-megapixel sensor is included with backside illumination. Each of the S6800 series is also available in three colors.

Both the S4800 series and the S6800 series cameras will be available from March.
