RIM puts rebranded BlackBerry World storefront online

Store goes live ahead of BlackBerry 10 launch events

Research in Motion has put its new BlackBerry World storefront online. The phone manufacturer's online store now stocks a number of apps, music, and videos for purchase and download, ahead of the company's global launch events for its BlackBerry 10 mobile operating system and, most likely, new BlackBerry smartphones.

Music downloads appear to be similar to other services in terms of price, for both albums and individual tracks. Movies vary in price depending on if they are rented or bought outright, and TV shows, said to be added to the service the day after they air in the United States and the United Kingdom, are set at $2 per episode.

The launch events later today will primarily be showcasing the new operating system, though the BlackBerry Z10 is also expected to be formally unveiled. A second handset with a standard BlackBerry keyboard is also said to be making an appearance, though the lack of leaks for the device suggests it may not.
