ZTE to unveil 5.7-inch Grand Memo, Firefox OS smartphones

MWC press conference to show new phones

ZTE is planning to reveal two smartphones at Mobile World Congress next month. The Grand Memo is an 5.7-inch device running on Android, which also appears to be similar to the previously leaked P945, while a second device is expected to be the manufacturer's first smartphone that will run the new Mozilla Firefox OS.

The Grand Memo, caught by Engadget at an event in Hong Kong, is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro running at 1.7GHz, feature a 13-megapixel rear camera, and a microSD card slot. A T9-based keyboard for "one-hand" typing will be included, which can be placed on both sides of the screen, though images for it could not be taken at the time. The display, though measuring 5.7 inches, will have a 720p resolution, lower than the recently shown Grand S.

The Firefox OS smartphone, the name of which has yet to be revealed, has been confirmed to make an appearance at MWC, through an invitation for the company's press conference. The invite encourages the use of two Twitter hashtags: #ZTEGrandMemo and #ZTEMozilla, suggesting the device could be called the ZTE Mozilla, even as a tentative title. ZTE has previously been confirmed as a manufacturing partner of Firefox OS handsets, alongside Alcatel.
