Verizon HTC Thunderbolt finally receives Android 4.0 update

Update likely last in the line for the HTC handset
One of the first Verizon LTE phones is being updated to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), nearly two years after the phone's release. The HTC Thunderbolt is finally seeing an update to a nearly year-old version of Android, albeit newer than Android 2.3 Gingerbread which most of the Thunderbolt phones shipped with.
Verizon has officially commenced the staggered rollout of the OS update, beginning yesterday. This version of Android is likely to be the last revision that the phone will see, given its status with the carrier. Verizon told Electronista that the rollout would be complete to all its customers by the end of April.
Unofficial patches have been available for some time, most with limited functionality and none with Verizon's official support. The update brings all of the new features to the phone, including facial recognition, a new usage center with data consumption monitor, a customizable launch bar, and integration with the HTC Sense 3.6 user interface.
