When Apple finally comes out with similar device right after Samsung does? Knowledgeable readers should know: Apple might not have invented it, but it sure made it better... Scratch "better" and overwrite :locked down, or least compatible, or pre planned obsolescence, and you will get the real picture.

Well, duh. Lord knows that cut-and-paste in a mobile OS was impossible to use until Apple did it, amirite?

I wonder how this will impact sales of the yet-to-be-released-possibly-vaporware Pebble smartwatch.

Cute example. While Apple didn't "invent" cut and paste on mobile devices, theirs *was* arguably the very first implementation that didn't SUCK.

You mean pressing and holding on a word to get a popup menu that lets you copy or paste? Like the way Android was already doing it? Or like the way Windows Mobile had been doing it for years?

You're right. It was a Magical and Revolutionary way of doing it that clearly nobody had even come close to implementing before. :rolleyes:

Text selection on Android was a catastrophe. The "hold-to-get-a-pop up-menu" bit wasn't the problem.

Calling it a "catastrophe" is a bit of a stretch. Tap on word where you want the cursor to go. Hold. Select "select text" from menu. Select text. Hold. Select "copy" from menu. It's really pretty damn similar to how iOS does it. I'm trying even on Froyo, which is ancient, and I'm not running into any problems.

The "hold to get a popup menu" bit was quite a big problem for Apple. Everyone else had no problem implementing it - Windows Mobile, Android, BlackBerry OS, even Palm - but Apple sure couldn't figure that shit out for the life of them until well into iOS 3.
