Report: native BlackBerry 10 Instagram unlikely

According to reports, a BlackBerry 10-native version of the photo sharing and manipulation service Instagram will not appear. One source told AllThingsD that "there will be no [native] Instagram for BB10 for now. Frankly, I’m not sure there will ever be." An Android-based port is allegedly underway.
Android ports to the BlackBerry 10 operating system have been criticized as sluggish and non-responsive. Sources report that the codebase for Instagram's Android version is difficult to get working with the SDK for the port, and poses significant technical challenges to get functional.
BlackBerry Vice President of Global Alliances said that "we have a strong partnership and are actively engaged around Instagram support for BB10, but we do not have an availability date at this point." Facebook has not commented on the matter.
