Hands on: Lenovo's 10.1'' S6000 tablet

Lenovo takes another dive into tablet market

Lenovo unveiled a wide range of devices earlier this year at CES, including the K900 handset, however the company saved a few products for Mobile World Congress. Although a new smartphone was not among the introductions, Electronista checked out the new 10.1-inch S6000 tablet and a pair of seven-inch counterparts.

The S6000 is marketed as a mobile "home entertainment" center, powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor and packed into an 8.6mm-thick housing. The 10.1-inch panel utilizes IPS technology for wide viewing angles, and its 1280x800 resolution is great for 720p video playback.

The new tablet appears to serve as a successor to the IdeaTab S2110, which features a similar display alongside a dual-core processor and an earlier Android build. We would have liked to see a full HD panel among the upgrades, but Lenovo doesn't appear to be attempting to directly compete with the retina iPad or other top-shelf tablets.

The company promises aggressive pricing for the S6000, and this will likely be key to its success. Like many Lenovo products, it is not flashy but appears to offer quality construction and a refined experience.
